Well gang, here it it. What you are looking at is the newest version of the NFC North Smack Board. I hope you will find this to be a much more user-friendly format.

First off, many of the individual forums have been consolidated into two main ones. The individual team forums, the NFL forum, Fantasy Football/Pick 'em, and the Smack Room have been consolidated into a new one - "NFL Rap n' Smack". The name may sound familiar to old timers that came over from the old STS board. Well, since STS apparently isn't running a message board anymore, the name will be preserved here. I know some of you will lament the passing of the Smack Room as a separate forum, but there is good news in all of this. The entire board is now an all-smack zone! Post what you want. The gloves are now off.

The Locker Room has been preserved, and it incorporates the other non-football forums such as Pigott's Top 10, Politics, and other forums of the past. This will be the off-topic/non-football fourm.

A third forum, "The Practice Field", is just a catch-all forum. You can do test posting, try out new graphics such as banners and such, post vanity threads, personal blog entries, deep dark secrets -- whatever. This is basically a catch-all forum for stuff that doesn't really fit anywhere else.

Announcements will move to another category and remain unchanged.

Old Board Archives and the Hall of Shame will remain unchanged. I haven't had to use the HOS so far, though we have had to boot at least a couple unfortunate posters for excessive spamming. I may yet do something with the Old Board Archives. Someday.

The forum links for the Links page and the Chat Room have been relocated to the main table. Just click the name of where you want to go. Nothing has changed here, though I will update the links page soon. Links are also provided to Yahoo Fantasy Football/Pick 'Em and the board's own portal page (though it doesn't really serve a vital function, but it may figure somehow in the grand scheme of things.

Want to catch up with the latest threads? Drop me an email? Look on the left side of the main table. There are links there that will enable you to do that.

Many of you have voiced you concerns since the beginning about the clumsiness and function of the board, mostly due to clutter and too many individual forums. Believe it or not, I have felt the same way, and now I have finally come up with a way of making this whole thing work. Hopefully, this easier-to-use format will lend itself more to quality conversation and make for an entertaining and enjoyable experience. Let me know what you think.

Now it is much easier to use tags in your posts.

Since the upgrade to ProBoards 4, the code I was using prior to the change was conflicting with the highlight tag feature. Now, that feature is back. So, if you want to italicize, bold, ~~strike-through~~, underline,

glow

or do

whatever

, all you need to do is highlight the word that you want to tag, and hit the appropriate button. Simple as that.
